Text:
Wendy G. Lehnert, Internet 101: A Beginner's Guide to the Internet and the World Wide Web. Addison-Wesley (1998).
Description: This one-credit course offers non-computer science majors an introduction to the use of the vast resources available on the Internet. The course will be taught in a laboratory environment with practical hands-on instruction. Most of the material in this course is included in Comp 120, so a student will not be permitted to take both for credit. The scope of Comp 120 is much broader; Comp 101 is designed for students who wish to acquire only Internet skills without examining other uses of computers.
Requirements:
  1. All students are expected to have or obtain a valid e-mail address. Students who have recently entered Loyola University should have received an e-mail address on the University's internal e-mail system (Groupwise) along with their Universal computing IDs.
  2. You will also need an account on the university's Orion system for web publishing activities, and a CS lab account for using the computer science lab during class. See the accounts page for details on obtaining CS lab and Orion accounts.
  3. All students will need at least one 3.5" floppy disk for in-class use.
Grading:

Good attendance is assumed. Students must inform the instructor if they cannot attend a class. Excessive absence will result in the deduction of 10 points from the final grade.
