Welcome to my home page. Rather than using this page to introduce myself and bore you with personal information, I would like to use this web page to share my exciting learning experience here at Loyola with you.
Presently I am attending Loyola as a graduate student in education, participating in a wonderful class, An Adventure of the American Mind Project . All participants in this project are presently teaching. Most are teaching at an elementary or secondary level. However, we also have a few participants who instruct at a college level. It is a delightfully diverse group of instructors from all parts of the Chicago area (and even one from Indiana) who come into this class with varied skills. We are sharing, learning, motivating and supporting each other throughout the classes. All of these participants, together with the enthusiastic instructors, Dr. Mary Lee Calihan and Dr. Michelle Jenkins, the encouraging project Director, Dr. Joy Rogers, and the supportive Technical Specialist, Marcus Hughes, make this class an unforgettable experience. Everyone contributes their gifts. For specifics on this project, visit the website, An Adventure of the American Mind Project
The purpose of this class is to not only familiarize participants with the primary resources available at The Library of Congress' American Memory Collection website, but to also enable participants to acquire technical skills to enhance and integrate the use of these resources into their curriculum. We all will be creating a lesson designed with primary resources found at this site. I have chosen to work with the Immigration collection for my first lesson, and continue from there. The possibilities are endless.
In summation, the only limitation to the amount of knowledge and sharing one can benefit from through this experience is dictated by the length of the course. This project/class should and could extend way beyond one semester.
