Text Discussion Questions
1. Who wrote this document, and to whom was it written?
(remember to take into consideration status/class, profession, etc.)
2. What is the story line?
3. Why was this document written (i.e., what type
of document is it, and for what purpose was it written)?
4. It is believable/authentic (i.e., does it give
you any reason to think it might be fabricated, or that it is composed
with some bias or ulterior motive)?
5. What does this document tell me? (about the society
that produced it, about the author’s/society’s basic assumptions)
