Club Promotions

Typical Interview Q's

Club Promotions

Message Board

We have developed a list of activities that members must complete at their convenience in order to receive promotions within the club.  We have structured the organization to help members both strengthen their financial knowledge and increase their network of contacts.

Activities and Descriptions

  • "Detailed papers from informational interviews with executives within your coverage area" : Under "Corporate Relations," you will find a list of our members current work.  For example, a member interviewed a Senior Vice President at ABN AMRO to gain insight for the club.  Not only did we receive insight, the member helped grow our relations among the financial community.  Executives will certainly take notice to members who actively promote themselves within the organization.  If any member comes across a Loyola alumni, who meets the required credentials, the member should consider offering them a position as "Executive Member of the Board".  We have reserved this exclusive position for Loyola alumni who have worked in the financial sector for a considerable amount of time and have risen to a leadership role.

    Example Q's to Ask Executives

  • "Relevant finance assignments (valuation, modeling, etc.)" : Under "Modeling & Valuation," you will find a list of lessons that members may chose from at their preference.  Members are encouraged to submit any finance related case or problem that they think will add to the club's list of supplemental finance problems.  Members have the choice of completing the lessons that already exist or submitting new problems that they see fit for the club.

  • "Stock Simulations" : We had our first simulation during Spring quarter of 2006.  Members were able to trade stocks, bonds, futures, options, and spots.  This is an excellent opportunity for members to trade securities they may not have traded before due to the high volatility inherent to certain instruments.

  • "Relevant books under our recommended list" : We have put together a list of informative books that will help form your background on the financial markets.  It is imperative that all individuals preparing for a career in finance be fully equipped with the knowledge of the industries past.  We encourage all members to submit any additional books so we can add them to our fine collection.

  • "Participation in tutoring sessions" : This is really a chance for members to act as a mentor or a tutor for other Loyola Students.  This is not a formal matter.  By helping others, we will live up to the values inherent in our club.

  • "Research Reports" : These can be extremely time consuming.  However, they are excellent practice for valuation techniques.  All members are welcome to form groups and submit any "Buy/Sell/Hold" recommendations that they analyze as a whole.

  • "Case Competitions" : We have posted a number of upcoming case competitions across the country.  Please email us with any case competitions you may come across.

  • "Events & Seminars" : We have posted a number of events members can attend at their convenience.  This is where you will network with executives and be able to grow your contacts.  Events & Seminars will give you a competitive advantage over many career fairs.  For example, the individuals who are sincerely interested in pursuing a specific career will attend a targeted event in their interest.  Employers know this and will automatically treat you accordingly.  Unlike career fairs, you will have the opportunity to stand out due to the minimal amount of students/individuals attending.  We recommend that when members attend events, they take pictures and submit the event and pictures so that the club can post them under "Past Events".

  • "Read The Wall Street Journal" : There are an infinite amount of financial publications.  We understand that you don't have time to read them all.  However, "The Journal", is always a necessity.

Relevant Internships during and/or Full-Time Positions following Loyola result in automatic promotions.  We are "highly confident" that as you promote yourself from member to executive vice president, you will  dramatically increase the probability of achieving your desired career goals.  By surpassing our hurdles to achieve your promotions, you will undoubtedly increase your financial skills and your network of contacts that are essential to landing your dream job.

Members who graduate with a 3.7 GPA or higher are automatically promoted 1 level.  Members will also be promoted based on achieving or passing levels for credentials & licenses. (i.e. CFA, CPA, series 7, etc)
