Growing In Courage

Published in 1998 by St. Mary's Press, Winona, MN. Courage is the ability, with the grace of God, to choose and do the good, to move toward what is lifegiving, in the face of fear, harm, threats, abuse, or even death. The word courage comes from the French word coeur, meaning "heart." Indeed, courage springs from our heart, our innermost convictions and beliefs. It gives life to our soul and direction to our actions in the face of danger. The promise of Jesus to be with us always is the heart of the virtue of courage, a virtue indispensable to living life abundantly.

The Wisdom of Memoir

Published in 1997 by St. Mary's Press, Winona, MN. This book examines the contemporary phenomenon of memoir, its literary and religious predecessors, and its spiritual dimensions. Twelve contemporary memoirs are reflected upon in some detail.
