The Study of Test Score

The Description of the Data:

This is a relatively simple set of data. It is taken from the results of the third examination for Intermediate College Algebra. The test is a standardized examination and which all faculty give for their third exam. There were six sections of this course offered Fall 1995. There were a total of 150 S's in this study. The population mean is 70 and is based (normed) on hundreds of students completing this examination.

The single variable used in this study is named 'score' and it is the percent of correct answers on the exam. There were a total of 50 questions.

You are to use SPSS to analyze this variable and determine whether or not there is a significant difference between the population mean and this single sample mean.

Statistics -- Compare Means -- One-Sample t test

Be sure to use "70" as the "test value"

Your interpretation will include the research question, statistical hypothesis and your determination of whether or not there is a statistically significant difference between the mean of one sample and the mean of the norm group.
