Special Moments

There are special moments that happen in life. Sometimes they're momentous and get recorded in newspapers but sometimes they're little things that make life so wonderfull.

Lift off - That moment when the wheels of the plane break free of the earth, the controls come alive and the airplane is in it's natural element - and so are you.

Wind in the sails - That time when you cut the power to the engine, sheet home the sails and the boat silently becomes a partner with the wind and the sea.

Birth - It's trite to say it, I know, but it really is very special to see your children being born. A bit scary the first time when you realize you're totally responsible for another human being and not just yourself but that's a good feeling, too.

It runs! - When you've taken an engine apart and you crank it over for the first time. Okay - not so good if it doesn't run but it's oh, so sweet when it does.

At the gallop - What a thrill to be riding together with a horse at full gallop. Flying without leaving the ground. All those analogys and descriptions of the experience that involve the wind - are absolutely true.

The 2005 World Series Champion Chicago White Sox - What more can a person say whose been a White Sox fan since 1955 when I was seven, who sat in the stands with Bill Veech except that having been there, Tadahito Iguchi's line drive home run to left field against Boston in game two of the playoffs will forever be alive in the forefront of my memory instantly available for me to relive the experience..
